Featured Military Family: The Thomas Family
Location: Fort Mill, South Carolina
Ready Capital was proud to gift one-on-one pro golf lessons by PGA Golf professional, Michael Henderson of The Golf Club of Edmund, to veteran Jonathan Thomas. He has a love for golf as it checks the boxes of some of his favorite things, being outdoors and walking, as well to de-stress from his disabilities sustained in the war and a previous battle with cancer. Golf holds a special family connection as Jonathan’s grandfather introduced him to the sport at seven years old.
Ready Capital’s John Moshier always chooses a special project to help the veterans on Military Makeover. In this case he knew that Jonathan had a passion for golf and jumped to provide a therapeutic activity for him.
An SBA loan that multiplied opportunity
The opportunity to gift this unique experience came full circle with Ready Capital and Michael Henderson. In 2016, Ready Capital provided an SBA loan to Michael so that he could purchase land, make improvements to the land, and have working capital to operate The Golf Club of Edmund—a golf course, clubhouse, and practice facility.
Giving back to veterans
Serving as a partner to the Military Makeover with Montel show is one way that we’re able to give back to service members and military families. Another is by providing veterans loans for to veterans who want to start or grow their businesses. Ready Capital’s CEO of Small Business Lending, John Moshier, is a veteran himself and appreciates the challenges military families face in rebuilding their lives back home.
